Recipe: Coconut Almond Ginger Protein Shake

This creamy coconut smoothie is packed with ingredients to restore your energy!

Coconut milk is made from a brew of coconut meat and water. It’s packed with Vitamins C, E and many B vitamins. Vitamins C and E help to boost the immune system, and B vitamins are responsible for providing energy to the cells.

Ginger gets the blood in your body flowing, helping to relieve tired muscles and overall fatigue. Amazingly, ginger has been shown to cause apoptosis in cancer cells, where the cancer cells turn against themselves.

In fact, some studies have shown ginger to be more effective at shrinking tumors than many cancer drugs. An important reason to incorporate ginger into you diet, whether you are fighting cancer or working to prevent it.

Vegan, Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Soy Free, Sugar Free

Makes 2 servings

Ingredients:

1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 cup unsweetened coconut milk
1 teaspoon kosher or celtic sea salt
1 rounded scoop vanilla protein powder
2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons coconut butter (or substitute coconut oil)
Date Sugar or Coconut Sugar to taste

Variations

  • Add fresh mint leaves
  • Add ½ teaspoon ground cardamom powder
  • Add 1 teaspoon of Maca Powder

To make a thinner shake, add filtered water.

To make a thicker shake add ice cubes and use less almond or coconut milk.

Directions:

1. Combine ingredients.

2. Blend until very smooth.
