American Ginseng May Relieve Cancer Fatigue | New Study

A new study shows that American Ginseng may be the newest solution for relief of cancer related fatigue, the most common complaint of cancer patients. This fatigue can persist for years after cancer treatment has been completed.  Cancer related fatigue compromises well being, quality of life and productivity and  is primarily true for both patients and survivors who have received chemotherapy.  Fatigue also occurs during and after radiation therapy and during recovery from surgery. This common side effect  is also a complaint of patients living with advanced cancers and cancers that affect the bone marrow such as leukemia and melanoma.  A recent double blind study in which cancer patients, both undergoing current  treatment as well as those finished with treatment from over 40 institutions took 2000mg of American Ginseng daily for 8 weeks.   Researchers also stated that there was no toxicity related to the use of American Ginseng in these patients and that further studies should be done to continue to explore the value of American Ginseng for cancer related fatigue.
